As the world grows more accustomed to the demands of instant gratification, the younger generation is struggling to cope with life’s challenges. Meanwhile, the older generation often finds it difficult to step back and allow the young to learn from their mistakes. Mental health has become a frequent topic of conversation among the youth—and rightfully so. It’s not a passing trend or a fabricated issue; it’s a genuine challenge they face.
In such an environment, how do they summon the courage to leave their homes, step out of their comfort zones, and face the unknown? Matthew 19:5 reminds us, “A man shall leave his father and mother and be united with his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” Yet, despite this biblical guidance, many parents continue to intervene in their children’s lives. Of course, we love them! But love means trust, and trust requires letting go and letting God take the reins.
Marriage, at its core, is a covenant with God. St. Josemaría taught that marriage is not only a union between two people but also with God. It is a sacred bond through which both partners are called to sanctify one another and deepen their relationship with the divine.
As Mother Teresa wisely observed, “On your wedding day, you will receive many gifts—some quite valuable. But the most precious gift of all will be the gift of each other. Cherish the joy of loving one another, and let that joy radiate outward.”
