In Mark 6:30-34, we find the apostles returning to Jesus after a period of teaching and ministering. They eagerly report all they have done, yet Jesus recognizes their need for rest. He invites them to retreat to a lonely place, away from the bustling crowds, to rejuvenate. In the past ten years, I have made it a point to have a yearly silent retreat. During this time, I take the opportunity to reflect on life and check in with myself on whether I am balancing my ambitions with God’s purpose for me, particularly in the context of my life as a wife, a mother and a leader in the workplace. Perhaps it is time for you to take a break, retreat from the busyness of life and just rest with the Lord.
